This USACE project consisted of clearing and disposal of debris from the channel; 1.5 million CY of excavation (combination of Manitowoc 4600 dragline, excavators, haul trucks, and scraper tractors) and disposal of material from the channel; furnishing and placing of filter material and 4000 tons of riprap above and below water level; installation of 24-inch, corrugated metal pipe; turfing; removal of water wells; gabion baskets; armored slope protection; grouted riprap; environmental protection; turf establishment; and care of water. RKE had to work in shifts on these projects to meet the aggressive schedules. 7,000 CY of material was excavated and semi-compacted each day.
