This USACE project consisted of two individual plan sets, denoted as Part I and Part II. Part I consisted of furnishing all plant, labor and materials for the construction of 4 new relief including drilling, installation and testing of new relief wells, excavating around 55 of the existing relief wells and cutting the discharge elevation down by several feet, construction of reinforced concrete wing walls around 41 of these lowered relief wells, installation of concrete-filled steel pipe guard posts, re-grading existing ditches, riprap installation, grouting of riprap, establishment and maintenance of turf, and environmental protection. Part II consisted of furnishing all plant, labor and materials for constructing 82 new relief wells along the landside levee toe. Collector ditches were constructed adjacent to the wells and graded to convey the well discharge flows into existing drainage ditches, which were widened as shown on the plans to accommodate the well flows.
