Cache River Culvert Repairs
Scope & Delivery
The project involved providing the necessary plant, workforce, and materials to replace three 84-inch cast-iron flap gates. The work required advanced planning due to the volatile nature of work taking place on the bank of the Ohio River.
Scope of work: demolition, removal, and disposal of the existing flap gates; drilling and installation of new adhesive anchors capable of supporting the 84-inch flap gates; replacement and calibration of the north sluice gate operator; ICW inspection of the three culverts during construction; installation of an unwatering and dewatering system; and installation of a large riprap cofferdam. RKE served as the prime contractor and self-performed 90% of the contract, including procuring flap gates, constructing the cofferdam, unwatering the work area, removing and disposing of the existing flap gates, installing new adhesive anchors, handling and installing the flap gates, and providing the onsite management team.
